Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip Wind Direction: East Wind Stength: 10/14 Surf / Sea State: medium to flatsih Air Temperature: warm Sea Temperature: warm Weather: sunny Max Speed: mid 20\' Distance Covered: 1 hour (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Arrive dip 4 ish and 4 were packing up, all on longbds cussing it was naff
and not worth it.
Maker and Squiz said no go yet I felt it was possible with my Ltwind kit.
Luckily Lord Swain turned up enthusiastic and off we went JP/8.5, Swainy
Zantos/8.2 and yep the first 200 metres not much then whoa off we went,
both straps cracking broad run.
Great runs from point to river in the kite zone. Squiz went miles on his
long board flashing past me in lulls, whilst on the plate.
Stayed up first gybe but couldn't plane hard against tide but was in
harness. There was light patches then the wind freshen brilliant - just a
couple of knots but at just over 100 kg had to work the bd on the plane.
JP's Pro excite ride 146L is a great board if you tickle it up. The 50cm
MFC race fin added the turbo, to windward and in practice with Lord Swain
showed him my arse a few times.
Had a great session with Swainy and unfortunately he had the old school
Zantos pissing all over me a few times which shocked me in 12kts!! The
board was made be4 BC yet it tanked in certain directions as Swainey used
the waves faces to gather speed. We both fluff gybes slowing up too much,
but Swainey now 96kg always left me from standing starts, unless I pumped.
Gybing was pretty pathetic with the big sail and was 50% efficient, need to
work on lightwind gybes.
I still like new school boards but I have to say the 8.2 North Rotational
sail / Zantos combo was running mid 20 kts exactly the same as me.
No time for GPS so cant be specific but I aint telling Swainey which angles
kicked my arse!
